Remove Temporary Internet Files (Cache)

  1. Close any open Internet browser windows.
  2. From the taskbar, click Start.
  3. Click Settings (skip if using Windows XP).
  4. Click Control Panel.
  5. Double-click the Internet Options or Internet icon.
    Note: If you're using Category View in Windows XP, do the following:
    1. Double-click Network and Internet Connections.
    2. Double-click Internet Options.
  6. Click the General tab.
  7. Click Delete Files in the "Temporary Internet files" section.
  8. Make sure Delete all offline content is checked and click OK.
  9. If available, click Apply.
  10. Click OK.

 


 

Configure LAN Settings

  1. Close any open Internet browser windows.
  2. From the taskbar, click Start.
  3. Click Settings (skip if using Windows XP).
  4. Click Control Panel.
  5. Double-click the Internet Options or Internet icon.
    Note: If you're using Category View in Windows XP, do the following:
    1. Double-click Network and Internet Connections.
    2. Double-click Internet Options.
  6. Click the Connections tab.
  7. Click the LAN Settings button.
  8. The Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window appears. Uncheck the following options:

    • Automatically detect settings
    • Use automatic configuration script

  9. Configure the proxy server setting:
    1. Uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN.
    2. Click OK.
    3. Make sure you're online and open Internet Explorer.
    4. If you can access the Internet, click OK to close the LAN Settings window.
    5. If you can't access the Internet, recheck Use a proxy server for your LAN. Click OK to close the LAN Settings window.
  10. If available, click Apply.
  11. Click OK.

 


 

Configure Internet Explorer's Security Settings

  1. Close any open Internet browser windows.
  2. From the taskbar, click Start.
  3. Click Settings (skip if using Windows XP).
  4. Click Control Panel.
  5. Double-click the Internet Options or Internet icon.
    Note: If you're using Category View in Windows XP, do the following:
    1. Double-click Network and Internet Connections.
    2. Double-click Internet Options.
  6. Click the General tab.
  7. Click Settings in the "Temporary Internet files" section.
  8. The Settings window appears. Under "check for newer versions of stored pages", select Automatically.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click on the Security tab.
  11. Click on the Internet Web content zone.
  12. Click Default Level.
  13. Click Apply.
  14. Click on the Programs tab.
  15. Select Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser.
  16. If available, click Apply.
  17. Click on the Advanced tab.
  18. Click Restore defaults.
  19. Click Apply.
  20. Click OK.

 


 

Configure Internet Explorer's Cookie Settings

Internet Explorer 5.x

  1. Close any open Internet browser windows.
  2. From the taskbar, click Start.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click Control Panel.
  5. Double-click the Internet Options or Internet icon.
  6. Click the Security tab.
  7. Click Custom Level.
  8. The Security Settings window appears. Scroll to the "Cookies" section.
  9. Select Enable for both options.
  10. Click OK.
  11. If available, click Apply.
  12. Click OK.

Internet Explorer 6.x

  1. Close any open Internet browser windows.
  2. From the taskbar, click Start.
  3. Click Settings (skip if using Windows XP).
  4. Click Control Panel.
  5. Double-click the Internet Options or Internet icon.
    Note: If you're using Category View in Windows XP, do the following:
    1. Double-click Network and Internet Connections.
    2. Double-click Internet Options.
  6. Click the Privacy tab.
  7. If the slider isn't set to Medium, click Default.
  8. Click Edit.
  9. The Per Site Privacy Actions window appears. Here you may control which sites are allowed to use cookies. This example is for virus software (McAfee Virus Scan) on your computer that must be able to use cookies.Under "Managed Web sites", look for a mcafee domain (e.g. www.mcafee.com or bin.mcafee.com).
  10. If a mcafee domain appears, right-click on it and click Allow.
  11. Repeat steps 9 and 10 for all mcafee domains.
  12. Click OK.
  13. If available, click Apply.
  14. Click OK.
