Outlook Express
Tip If you are using Outlook Express in The Dual Preview mode, may we suggest changing to the Single Preview mode. In today's virus infested atmosphere, this is a safer and more useful way to receive e-mail. The main advantage is the ability to easily check suspicious e-mail without opening it. Doing it this way will look a little different to start with, but I can almost guarantee that you will like it much better as you get used to it. Want to try? See below.
From your Outlook Express Inbox Click VIEW for a drop down menu |
Then on the drop down menu Click LAYOUT as seen below |
Remove the check from "Show Preview Pane" and Click APPLY and OK |
The other options can be as you wish. Set as above, it
will look like this |
| In the above box. If you know a message is OK then double click it
(left click) to open it. It will open in it's own page where you
can do what ever you want to do with it. To return back to the page you
were on, click the X at the top right of the page. (this does not delete
the message) To delete it without opening, simply Right click one time and Delete as usual. To find information about the message without opening it, simply Right Click it and Click Properties. Then Click Details. This will give you the Internet Headers for the message. To make it easier to read and to see even more, Click "Message Source" where you may expand it. If you have virus protection you may see a note telling you if it is a virus. In any rate you can see enough to determine if the message is something you want to open. To open it, close the source boxes and double click the message.
